We performed for them, because they performed for us.

We performed for them, because they performed for us.

On Veteran’s day, our children sang the National Anthem at the Community Living Center of Hunter Holmes McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond. We wanted to give thanks to the veterans who have given so much for our country and we believed the best way to do that was in person. It was a beautiful experience to see some of our country’s youngest people meeting some of our country’s soldiers and learning about how deep of a price others pay so that generations after them can enjoy the freedoms that we do. The song took on true meaning for our kids that night and while the singing of the song itself was a small act of gratitude, the feeling of gratitude for all the veterans have sacrificed was very great in all of our hearts.

The children (and parents) stuck around for a while to socialize with the veterans, sometimes just handing them a a small American flag or trading small talk. We spent some time with them which was time, well spent.
